No doubt about it, we LOVE festivals - and dressing up for them!
Festival fashion has always been fun, but it hit a new high in recent times thanks to celebs and influencers really taking it up. Now when Coachella, Glastonbury, Burning Man, Splendour In The Grass or any other big music or arts festival rolls around, we love seeing the wonderful, wild and sometimes just weird outfits that our faves and other notables have put together.
We may not be snapped by paparazzi at a festival or rave, but we kinda like the idea of jazzing up our look as if we may be. It’s a chance to express ourselves, experiment, get some cute pics with our friends and feel like total hotties while the music and good times flow.
Following the launch of our new festival range, we survey the best trends right now, from remixed animal prints to distressed denim, and some ideas for wearing them.
First on our trend list, distressed denim, duh. It’s all about faded, textured, vintage-ish blue washes, and lots of rips and tears - your boyfriend jeans or summer cut-offs may be distressed but your vibe won’t be. Add a tiny crystal bralette and some boots and you’re ready to be seen.

We’ll never get sick of the animal print trend, no matter how many times it comes around again. This season we’re remixing luxe leopard looks with sheer fabrics and gleaming mesh textures. Pair your pieces with boots and a cowboy-style hat for some serious great-outdoors glam.

It’s hot, it’s here and it’s sheer! The sheer dress is one of our top new picks for the season. We love a kinda-goth, kinda-bohemian figure-hugging maxi paired with low-heeled boots, some pretty jewellery and accessories, dark underwear and an oversized denim jacket for a fun contrast.

We’re also taking Rihanna’s advice (always) and shining bright like a diamond this festival szn. Sequins, sparkly mesh and glimmery circle discs are perfect for catching the light as you, festival queen or king, dance the day and night away. Pick a glitzy piece like a 90s-inspired halter top - adore those butterfly silhouettes! - and make it really pop with darker denim.

Fringe is all the rage again and we’re not mad about it! A big trend at recent fashion weeks, the fringe piece adds a little zing to your outfit without overwhelming it. Wear it with a pair of cut-offs with a cool-girl longer length and you’ll be one of the best dressed babes on field.

We may be into metallics, denim and neutral tones right now - but this being Showpo, we can’t resist a bolt of brights! For that festival dancefloor or photo moment we love love love a mini dress or crop top with rainbow sequin embellishments or a vibrant swirly print.

A graphic tee, at a festival? Sorry Miranda Priestly, it’s not groundbreaking but that’s okay cause it works. Throw in a tee or a tank top with a vintage-look graphic and a boxy cropped cut and you can’t go wrong. Dress it down with shorts, or style it up with a sequin mini skirt.

Let us not forget the corset! This trendy it-girl piece will have you looking tres polished, yet it’s also surprisingly easy to style with different bottoms. Slip one on with denim cutoffs and cowboy boots or refresh your silhouette by adding flared pants and chunky sandals.

Can we get a yee-haw? This season and always we’re obsessed with the ever-timeless cowboy boot! Ankle, calf or knee high, it’s perfect for festivals, with its elevated pointed toe and polished but still-practical block heel. Our pick is a statement, vintage-inspired pair, worn with something luxe but simple like a velvet mini dress.

Wanna take your festival ‘fit from boring to glorious? Enter the statement belt. On theme with our high-shine pieces, it’s serving sparkly tassels, buckles and motifs. Why not declare more is more by pairing yours with another statement trend like animal print or a sheer dress.

It wouldn’t be a festival guide without a nod to some classic go-to shoes, accessories and beauty. Round out your festival style kit with must-have tools like boots, bumbags, boob tape products and some big, flashy, hard-to-lose-track-of earrings. Plus, body glitter because YOLO.

We love an outdoor festival setting, but what happens if it rains? Perhaps you’ll be too busy dancing and vibing and won’t really mind! But it doesn’t hurt to have a game plan in place, especially if the forecast beforehand is looking rather bleak.
In that case pack a light waterproof poncho, and consider a pair of sturdy shoes a must-have. We love a classic boot from Dr. Martens or a mud-friendly gumboot style. Also make sure you’re protecting your valuables with a sturdy backpack or zip-up crossbody bag.
For your main ‘fit, why not try a loose mini dress, or even a slouchy oversized tee? Unlike long pants or a maxi dress, it won’t drag through any mud, and if it gets a little dirty or rained on the marks won’t show too much. Plus, it looks cool and is easy to move around in.

There you have it - rain, hail or shine, at your next festival you’ll be stealing the spotlight!
