7 Ways To Style Jumpsuits & Which Ones To Add To Cart ASAP

14 August 2019

At times they’re a little divisive but it’s no secret that we love a good jumpsuit. Some people love the instant chicness of them, others love them because they’re the most fashion-forward alternatives to dresses for more formal occasions. Personally, I love when I’m sitting on my bed, in a towel, freshly out of the shower, knowing I should have left 30 minutes ago and I just can’t be arsed to work out which top goes with which bottoms.

Season after season, jumpsuits are proving to be a trend with serious staying power. If you think they’re not for you, you’re wrong. Whether you’re a block-colour babe, a print obsessive or want to invest in the utilitarian boilersuit trend, jumpsuits are totally for you. So which style should you add to cart? Let us help.

Floral jumpsuits

When we’re seeking a little bit of summer (no matter the weather), floral jumpsuits are our go-to. There’s no look quite so fresh as a floral jumpsuit worn all summer long (and then layered when the temp starts to drop, obvs). To maximise the summer vibes, pair your jumpsuit with cute sandals, a basket bag and maybe a hair scarf if you’re willing to go that far. Worried you’ll sweat it in the summer? Don’t! Open for a linen-look or linen-blend jumpsuit to keep your cool.

Wide leg jumpsuits

Now, when it comes to jumpsuits as workwear, there are some naysayers. But trust us, get the style right and HR will be more than impressed with your 9-5 style. ‘Which style?’, we hear you ask. Two words: wide leg. While on it’s own it might not look totally office-approps, so we definitely recommend styling up your wide-leg jumpsuit, and here’s how. In the cooler months, pop a long sleeve top like this one underneath and layer a blazer with the sleeves rolled up on top. If the weather’s warm, swap the top out for a tee and keep the blazer for your commute. If you want to play it supersafe, jumpsuits in dark colours will always work in your favour. Think black, navy or emerald jumpsuits.

Formal jumpsuits

Unsurprisingly, we’re all for jumpsuits as wedding-guest attire. Truth be told, they’re perfect for any formal event. Pair with your favourite stilettos (or buy a new pair), add some OTT accessories and a smokey eye and you’ll have a bangin’ look that is unbelievably comfortable. This is also a great option for bridesmaids outfits that make your gals a little more unique. We try and stick by similar rules for evening jumpsuits as we do for all occasionwear. Dark colours work best. Opt for a navy, wine or even a chic black jumpsuit.

Wedding jumpsuits

Do we here wedding bells? Make your walk down the aisle a unique one in a white jumpsuit. Perfect for both city-hall brides or as a reception outfit change, this look will not let you down on your big day. Keep the whole look minimal by ditching the veil and adding the perfect pair of nude or white pumps. If you want to add some extra glitz, a chic low bun, with a dead straight centre part, a bold lip worn with a strapless jumpsuit is perfection.

Festival jumpsuits

Festival season is our fave time of year to wear jumpsuits. Sure you could probably consider these looks as maxi playsuits, but you’ll forgive us for bending the rules in this instance. A little bit of boho-inspired lace and your fave pair of boots (you’ll want to wear boots in all that mud), a cute hat (we stan sun protection) and you’re festival ready before the first act even starts.

Denim jumpsuits

Denim jumpsuits are the trend we did not see coming, but it’s here, and it’s perfect. When worn with a cute gingham crop and the strappiest shoes you can get your hands on, denim jumpsuits are made for early spring, when the sun is shining but the air is a little cooler than you’d like.

Monochrome jumpsuits

Nothing screams chic like a monochrome jumpsuit. Whether you’re wearing this one to work or using it as a one-and-done look for the weekend, styling a monochrome jumpsuit is easy. Pop on an on-trend pair of chunky sneakers, a statement belt and perhaps a mini bag and you’re good to go! If you need a little extra coverage than this cross-backed beauty gives, pop a mock-neck long-sleeve shirt on underneath.
