Women's Cocktail Clothing

Q: What is the dress code for a cocktail party?

Cocktail attire sits between everyday party clothes and formal eveningwear . A polished midi dress is a classic choice, but a tailored set or jumpsuit can work just as well. Use the venue and time of day to guide how much shine you add.

Q: Can I wear a maxi dress to a cocktail party?

Yes, especially for an evening event. Choose a maxi with a side split, an open back or a simple silhouette that gives it a party look. If the invitation says cocktail rather than formal , leave the most dramatic gowns for another night.

Q: Are pants okay for cocktail attire?

Definitely. A matching set with wide leg pants looks considered straight away. You could also pair tailored pants with a corset top and a blazer . Add a small bag and dressier shoes so the look reads cocktail party rather than office.
