White formal dresses

Q: Can you wear a white formal dress to a prom or formal event?

Absolutely, white’s a classic for a prom or formal event. Just do a quick check of the event’s guidance first, since some have a colour theme or dress code, then pick the shape and shade that make you feel your absolute best on the night.

Q: Can I wear white, ivory, cream or off-white as a wedding guest?

White (and its near-neighbours) ivory, cream and off-white, can all read as bridal, and that lane belongs to the couple. Unless they’ve specifically asked guests to wear white or a pale palette, go with another colour. Save the white for a day that’s yours.

Q: How do I choose the fit of a white formal dress?

Go with what feels good to move in. Column and bodycon styles are fitted and sleek; A-line and fit-and-flare give you more swish and room to breathe. Picture how you want to feel on the night, then check the measurements on the style you love to lock in the fit.
