Flossy Babes, Here's How To Wear Our New Opulence Party Range

25 July 2022

By Kristen Daly

From the irresistible allure of sequin party dresses to the drama of diamante mesh, your sign to shine is here with Showpo’s latest collection, New Opulence

This season, we’re putting a fresh, modern spin on seventies glamour with disco-ball gowns, velvet touches, OTT embellishments, jewel tones and all-in-one jumpsuits and sets. Inspired by Studio 54, the iconic New York disco nightclub of the era, these are looks for the dancefloor and your Instagram grid.

And while these clothes are statement pieces, they’re not the only styles grabbing our attention. In theme with the luxurious maximalism of the range, we’re also shining a spotlight on trending, glitzy, look-at-me accessories, plus sexy staples that’ll make your main pieces pop.

It’s all about building a big, bold base with dresses, jumpsuits, blazers and more  - then dialing up the drama even further with the frosting.

1. Sequin Mini Dress + Bright Heels

With the seventies serving as our decade du jour, let’s start with a teeny meeny, gloriously slouchy sequin dress that would fit right in on any dancefloor of the era.

This season, keep the look ultra luxe by choosing a sequin dress in moodier dark tones - think burgundy, emerald green or charcoal - paired with on-trend colourful heels.

2. Diamante Mesh + Black Statement Pieces

Less hot mess, more hot mesh! Hot diamante mesh to be precise. We can’t wait to turn heads in this look-at-me texture, and lucky for us there are so many ways to wear it.

The black diamante mesh top is one of our faves of the bunch; team it with a bralette and leatherette pants, or go full glam with the matching pants or skirt and an oversized blazer.

3. Bodycon Mini Dress + Platform Heels

After it burned very bright in the 90s and early 2000s, the bodycon trend went out of vogue for awhile. But now it’s back baby, and totally refreshed for a new generation.

For a look that takes inspiration from those eras, but also adds a sprinkle of sixties-seventies flavour, try a bodycon mini dress with long sleeves and a pair of on-trend platform heels.

4. Sequin Set or Blazer + Bralette

We’re already masters of the blazer at Showpo, but this season we’re upping the ante by replacing our usual street-to-office aesthetic with ready-for-the-club glowy sequins.

If you’re slipping on an embellished set or blazer like the two looks below, turn up the main character energy even further by adding a sexy satin bralette under the blazer - or no top underneath at all.

5. Velvet Pieces + 90s Grunge Accessories

New Opulence is all about the sultry seventies, but we can rarely resist a bit of nineties grunge!

Our burgundy velvet top and two piece set will look incredible with edgier accessories, like a pair of fishnet tights or a thick silver choker. Somewhere Courtney Love is smiling on...

6. Burn Out Dresses + Silver Touches

Ice, ice, baby. One of the hottest new textures in our New Opulence range is our velvety burn out effect - and one of the chicest ways to style it is with sparkly silver jewellery.

By adding gold jewellery or accessories, we’d take it into vintage territory, but with silver, the effect is modern and sleek.

7. Snake Print Blazer + Sharp Skirt

If sequins, mesh, velvet and burn out aren’t your thing, take a walk on the wild side instead with snake print!

Our take on this typically OTT trend involves a refreshingly simple monochromatic palette and sleek silhouettes. For an ultra sharp look, pair the blazer with an angular mini skirt.

8. Glossy Midi Dress + Bow Heels

Mini hems are great and all, but this season we’re also really digging the party-ready midi.

For a look that’s super flossy and feminine, match a glossy midi or cocktail dress with one of the hottest high heel trends of the last few seasons - stilettos with a bow over the toe.

9. Black Top or Bodysuit + Metallic Flares

Heading out? You can’t go wrong with a LBT - little black top - or bodysuit.

We’ve included one in the range, and while it's not OTT, it still looks luxurious. For that little extra oomph, swap your usual straight-leg jeans or pants with groovy metallic flares.

10. Sleek Jumpsuit + Oversized Earrings

Finally, we couldn’t bring out a seventies-inspired range without including a fabulous jumpsuit! We know Studio 54 darlings Diana Ross, Grace Jones and Blondie would approve.

You’ll already look like a tall, refreshing glass of water in this sequin-spangled baby; to emphasise the elongating effect even further, just add big drop earrings.
