Jeffree Star Cosmetics have a pretty ridiculous cult following, with almost 1M tags on Instagram alone.
I was always a wee bit suspicious of the products as I (wrongly as it transpires) assumed the hype was around the brand, not so much the actual products. Then we started stocking them at Showpo so I figured I should give them a go and see what all the fuss was about.
WELL. Ladies (and maybe a lone chap – potentially my boss looking for spelling errors), the fuss was in relation to the insane pigments of the liquid lipstick and highlighters.
The fuss was about the creamy formulas and the fuss was definitely about the giant pans and tubes – meaning you get a serious bang for your buck.
But one thing is fo sho’, it’s hard to trust images you find online of colours, as on your skin, they can be drastically different. So I’ve taken the liberty to swatch EVERY DANG product we have from Jeffree Star so you have more of an idea of the shades.
For your reference, I shot them all in the same spot (using my shitty iPhone 6), on my forearm, which is pale AF and has blue undertones.
The pink hue, the insane glow, the massive colour payoff. What’s not to love about this highlight? Save this one for a flirty first date or night out with bae for an uber cute loved up look.
This shade is perf for girls (or guys!) that love a bronzed up, sun-loving look without having to compromise on glow factor.
You’ll be caught in a full-on blizzard with this highlight, with bright silvery tones, this is not a shade for the faint-hearted.
Dazzlingly bright and buttery smooth, this golden highlighter melts right into the skin for a luminous finish.
Stop the press! The perfect nude has arrived. This shade looks particularly flattering on us pale-skinned folk but can easily be worn on all skin tones.
Checkmate is a knockout red which lasts like a dream. Days of having red lippy stains on your teeth (or wineglass!) are over with this amazing formula designed to last.
Unicorns are having a real moment in the beauty world but don’t expect any pastel pinks or purples here. This liquid lipstick is a full-bodied berry colour destined for a night out on the town.
It takes a lot to pull off a hot pink hue like Masochist but if you’re confident and have a bangin’ outfit you’re waiting to debut, look no further. This is the shade for you.
This is one for the girl who’s heart is still stuck in the 90’s. The perfect combination of brown and cool undertones, Posh Spice is the perfect beauty-based nostalgia fix.
Jeffree Star – Liquid Lipstick in Rich Blood
A favourite of beauty-gurus all over, Rich Blood is the only deep red you need in your make up back.
Not just for the June babies, Gemini is a super sweet pinky-brown that’ll look good in all seasons.
If you’re in need of a little purple is your make up collection, Sagittarius is the colour for you. A super glam but totally wearable hue that’ll add some variety to your beauty routine.
Stand out from the pack with this nudey-brown shade. Leo is perfect for girls want to up their colour game just a bit but aren’t ready to dive head first into super dark shades.
This shade is dark and I mean dark! Don’t let it deter you though if you can wear this look with confidence, then go for it! You deserve to turn heads once in a while (okay, all the time)
This shade is perfection! It looks good on everyone and is subtle enough to wear all day long without looking like you spent hours on choosing your lip colour in the morning.
They got the name for this shade bang on, because indeed when I swatched this, I was shook. It’s the perfect autumnal shade which is guaranteed to have both men and leaves falling at your feet.
As much as we love being extra, sometimes a bold red lip is just too much. Luckily, this shade is ultimate nude to pare back bolder eyeshadows and dramatic contouring.
Desperate to add these shades to your collection? Showpo has a huge range of Jeffree Star Cosmetics products and the best news is, it doesn’t end with liquid lippy and highlighters. They also have a bomb AF range of super pigmented eyeshadows too! Take a look at what our resident beauty kween thought about the Thirsty palette and the Blood Sugar palette.
