Brrrrr it’s cold in here! It feels like the chilly weather is not compatible with our skin. Dry, flaky and itchy skin is definitely not what glowing skin is made of. While most of us can’t afford to jet off to Mykonos or Barcelona to get that sun-kissed glow every year during a European summer, we are here to let you know that there are some life-saving products out there to help you achieve healthy and bright summer skin all year round.
For all the crystal lovers out there! You have probably scrolled through Instagram and seen a ton of influencers go on about their love for their beauty jade rollers. Jade rollers are not a new thing. In fact, they were traditionally used by the Chinese to keep their skin smooth, bright and beautiful. The benefits of the beauty roller lies in the naturally cool Jade stone. Massaging it onto your face is said to release toxin build up and reduce puffiness. The result, a glowing fresh face minus the dark eye circles. The jade roller is best to use after cleansing and moisturising by gently rolling it over your face in an outward and upward motion for a couple of minutes. Make sure to store in your fridge to increase its benefits.
In many ancient traditions, rose water is believed to contain magical properties. Apparently, Cleopatra used rose water in her own beauty routine so if you want to look and feel like a powerful Queen, mist away! There are many benefits of using a rose facial mist. Containing anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants to soothe irritated skin and regenerate skin cells; it also relaxes and hydrates the skin to leave you feeling calm and fresh. It can be used any time throughout the day to give your face a pick me up!
Marketed as a powerful anti-ageing ingredient, Vitamin C is being included in many skincare products to revitalise and renew the skin. Vitamin C infused serums boost collagen production which aids in the healing of scars, redness and irritation. It also increases skin elasticity and hydration. Hello smooth and glowing skin! Serums should always be applied before moisturiser. The key thing to remember when applying serums is that less is more. Apply 2-4 drops onto your fingers and massage gently onto your face.
Two words, glycolic acid. If you’re like me, the first thought I had when reading that on the label was ‘wtf does this sciencey word really mean?’ It sounds intimidating but let’s break it down. Glycolic acid is actually derived from sugar cane. It’s put inside many skincare products because it easily penetrates into the skin. This also preps the skin so that it absorbs the other ingredients better. The benefits of glycolic acid is that it helps shrink pores and breakouts, reduces fine lines and evens out your skin tone. These glow peel pads are easy to use. At night, apply to the face, neck and decolletage and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Rinse off excess with cold water.
Another favourite Pixi product is the Glow Tonic. The main ingredient is again the wonderful glycolic acid but this product includes other natural ingredients such as ginseng and aloe vera to lift and brighten the skin. Ginseng improves circulation and re-energises the skin and aloe vera calms and hydrates. This product can be applied to your face morning and night after cleansing. For the full Pixi magic, cleanse with the Pixi Glow Mud cleanser and moisturise with the Pixi Glownation Day Dew.

Face masks are the perfect way to treat your skin while also taking some time out for yourself. This refreshing cucumber mask is super natural and deeply nourishes and moisturises the skin. These masks also come in coconut, manuka honey, oatmeal, rice and rose. They smell so good you’ll want to eat them. Schedule in some self-care time, put on this face mask and leave it on or 10-20 minutes, get some cucumber infused water or delicious tea, relax on your couch, listen to a fab podcast or read an exciting book. You’ll be feeling zen in no time!
Another miracle mask but this one is in a jelly form rather than a thin sheet. This mask is made of 50% collagen which improves skin elasticity to promote younger looking skin. Yes please! Anything for a light and bright au naturale looking face minus the dryness and redness. This jelly mask is also mixed in with macadamia seed oil to assist with cell regeneration and cacao extract, a rich antioxidant which is said to plump up your skin and fight premature wrinkles. For best results, use after cleansing and toning and gently massage all over your face for 2 minutes.
Achieving glowing skin is not just about your skincare routine. When was the last time you woke up from a restful sleep with creases all over your face from your pillow? Probably more often than you would like. A silk pillowcase fixes this problem instantly! It’s also a lot cleaner than a regular pillow case as it doesn’t absorb all the product you put on your face before you sleep so that you skin can reap all the benefits. It’s also handy when you ‘accidentally’ forget to take your makeup off as the bacteria won’t absorb into the pillow and stay there.
