If you’re like me, you love any excuse to dress up and go out for a night on the town. BUT when it comes to deciding what to wear, suddenly your night out feels like a nightmare.

Luckily, I’ve worked out exactly what you need in your wardrobe to create a rotation of party-perfect ‘fits. Think of it as a capsule wardrobe for your inner Alice and thank me later. Study up on this list of party dresses so you can nail Saturday night style week after week.

 

1. Going Out Dresses

I mean there’s going out and then there’s going out (think brunch with your Nan vs boozy brunch with your ladies). For the latter, something short and fun is your only need! We love going out dresses with prints or pops of colour and anything with a deep neckline is a bonus.

 

2. Date Night Dresses

Whether it’s date night with the BF or with your gal pals, dressing to impress without the stress (look at me being Busta Rhymes over here) is easy. We love a sexy silk style dress as it hugs in all the right places, or a mini dress with full-length sleeves got a look that equal parts classy and cute.

 

 

3. Sequin Dresses

If there’s one thing we’re sure of it, it’s that every gal deserves to shine bright like a diamond (thanks Riri). And what’s the best way to achieve that? A sequin dress obvs. Perfect for gals who love glamour, add some curls in your hair and pair with a bold lip and you’re ready to shine.

 

4. Little Black Dresses

The little black dress (or LBD), a classic style that is timeless and perfect for pretty much every event. If you don’t have one of these in your wardrobe, you need to get one ASAP. It’ll be your new staple and will pair easily with everything you already own plus the cost per wear means it practically pays for itself, right?

 

5. Red dresses

If you need something flirty and fun, there’s no need to go past a red dress. Universally flattering, red looks good on all skin tones so you’ll never have that feeling of regret when a FB memory pops up on your timeline and you wonder what the heck you were thinking. 

 

6. A-Line Dresses

An A-line dress is the perfect number is fab for graduations and work parties where you need to be a little more reserved. Paired with heels and a cute clutch you can’t go wrong plus you’ll be able to stuff yourself silly at the buffet and your colleagues will be none the wiser.

 

7. Backless Dresses

Dare to go bare? Backless dresses are perfect for showing off some skin! Whether it’s your BFF’s birthday or an event where you know you’ll run into your ex, a staple backless dress is a look that’ll give ’em whiplash from doing a double take so fast.

8. Bodycon Dresses

Bodycon dresses fit you in all the right places, so it’s obvious why they’re a real winner in our eyes. These dresses are great for any evening events and festivals – but if you’re looking for a more casual look, pair with cute sneakers and a denim jacket for ultimate chilled out party vibes.

 

9. Knit dresses

Party dressing in winter used to be a total nightmare. That is until knit dresses got cute again (you’re welcome). Turn up the heat in a knit dress with your fave ankle boots outfit that’ll get you through the cooler nights this party season.

 

10. Maxi Dresses

You really can’t go wrong with a maxi dress. Whether you’re looking for a staple summer party dress or a dress to take you from dinner to the dancefloor, the maxi is the dress your wardrobe has been asking for. In our opinion, the strappier, the better and adding some layered jewellery will complete the look.
