Hey, howdy, how do you do? Welcome to another weekly wrap. We’d like to say things have changed since last week, but let’s face it. Outside of doing their actual jobs who are celebs if they aren’t entertaining us with feuds, surprise pregnancies, second weddings and left-of-field comebacks (looking at you Jamie-Lynn Spears).
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas got married…again
In the most wholesome news of the week, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas got married again. You may remember the pair’s first nuptials at a Vegas drive-thru chapel. If you missed it, just head to Diplo’s Instagram because he live-streamed the whole thing.
Arguably all eyes were on Turner in her custom made Louis Vuitton dress but I’m sorry have you seen their dog Porky Basquiat? He was a grooms-pup at the wedding and I couldn’t be more obsessed.
Oh and if you’re wondering if Diplo scored an invite the second wedding, worry not. The music man was in attendance but has his phone confiscated this time around. Which, tbh, is fair enough.
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun vs Justin Bieber
In case you have been living under a rock for the past week, Taylor Swift caused quite the stir this week when she absolutely dragged Scooter Braun on Tumblr.
Who TF is Scooter Braun and why TF is Taylor Swift still using Tumblr? Well, I can’t shed much light on that second question, but to answer the first, Scooter Braun is a manager to the stars. Most noticeably he manages Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato. So you know, just a couple of up-and-comers.
Back to the Tumblr post in question. Tay-tay roasted Scooter over the way he shadily acquired the rights to her masters (that’s the fancy musical term for her old music). How did that happen? Before signing with her current label, Taylor Swift was with Big Machine Records owned by Scott Borchetta. Scott Borchetta sold his company to Scooter Braun, effectively selling the rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums with it.
According to Swift, Scooter Braun has been publicly and privately bullying her for years. In her words, “any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to”. Yikes.
But it doesn’t end there.
“For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead, I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in,” Taylor wrote. “I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future”.
Scooter wasn’t the only one Swift took aim at in the post. Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West all got a shout out for acting particularly grim towards her under Braun’s influence.
“All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years. Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy”. If that doesn’t spell bad blood, I don’t know what does.
Justin Bieber has since tried to apologise but just ended up sounding like a major dickhead instead, accusing Swift of getting her fans to bully Scooter.

Hey Taylor. First of all i would like to apologize for posting that hurtful instagram post, at the time i thought it was funny but looking back it was distasteful and insensitive.. I have to be honest though it was my caption and post that I screenshoted of scooter and Kanye that said “taylor swift what up” he didnt have anything to do with it and it wasnt even a part of the conversation in all actuality he was the person who told me not to joke like that.. Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you.! As the years have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences, hurts or frustrations. So for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter. Anyway, One thing i know is both scooter and i love you. I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication. So banter back and fourth online i dont believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and i would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or or any feelings that need to be addressed. Neither scooter or i have anything negative to say about you we truly want the best for you. I usually don’t rebuttal things like this but when you try and deface someone i loves character thats crossing a line..
Is it too late now to say sorry? Time will tell.
Shay Mitchell is pregnant
The announcement was made on Shay’s YouTube channel (ahem just like Kylie did in 2018) along with the news that she would be creating a weekly series following her pregnancy that will air on YouTube Originals.
Mitchell was extremely candid in the video saying, “I’m gonna be so happy when this comes out,” she continues. “I can like not suck my stomach in [after] months of hiding, it’s been a really lonely journey. I think pregnancy is awesome for the most part but it’s also really fucking lonely.”
The actress also released a series of images on Instagram to share the news. Naturally, she’s already copping it online from people telling her exactly what she is doing wrong (wearing a bikini and eating Italian food apparently). Here’s a quick life hack for you. If you’re ever in the position where you feel the need to comment on someone’s Instagram about what they should or shouldn’t be doing, log out.
How anyone can look at this picture and tell a woman she is not doing pregnancy right is beyond me. Let’s just all relax a little bit, okay?
Disney finally announced the cast of The Little Mermaid
Remember when Disney did a stage version of The Little Mermaid and Lindsay Lohan was straight up pissed she wasn’t cast as Ariel? Well, it looks like her dream to warble Part Of Your World is just that, a dream.
This week Disney announced who they cast for the live action remake and the titular role went to the extremely talented and hella cool Halle Bailey.
While Lohan is yet to comment on the casting, the rest of Hollywood is having a field day with the shockingly diverse and forward casting choice from Disney execs.
Joining Bailey is Awkwafina as Scuttle the crazy-ass seagull and little cutie Jacob Tremblay as Ariel’s sidekick Flounder. Rumour has it that Melissa McCarthy has been cast as the sea witch Ursula and while it hasn’t been confirmed that could be the greatest decision a casting director has ever made.
The Little Mermaid will start production in April 2020 and with no official release date, we’ll be waiting a while before this remake hits our screens. For now, catch the 1989 version along with all of your other nostalgic faves on Stan.
