Highlight Game Strong

9 highlighters you need in your life ✨

Like the true beauty aficionado that I am, I’m glow obsessed.

If I could get away with it, I’d paint myself in a metallic sheen on a Friday night ready to blind the masses with my highlight game.

The aim of a highlighter is to draw attention to the high points of your face, giving your complexion a luminous glow.

I’ve popped a face with crosses on it (chart?) below, I found it on Tumblr and it shows you exactly where to put your highlighter for optimal results.

But what bloody one to choose!? There are SO MANY on the market ATM that’s it’s hard to know what to opt for.

So yesterday (on a Sunday guys, I did this for you on a SUNDAY… jks it was fun) I trawled through my beauty draws to find my faves. Unfortunately, they’re mostly high-end :/

But as you can see below, the drugstore bad boys just didn’t cut it! So PLEASE let me know of any amazing options out there as some of these fellows don’t come cheap. Lucky they’re cute and last so long.

Not very good…

The texture of this pressed illuminator by Make Up For Ever is so, so smooth. It’s almost like a veil you can lightly dust over larger areas. The silvery, pink-based hue is perfect for fairer lasses. Available from Sephora for AU$66 (yes we get stitched here).

I couldn’t not include it now, could I? Selling out in mere minutes when it was first released by beauty vlogger Jaclyn Hill with BECCA, this is one of the few products I’ve actually hit pan on. It’s subtle enough for daily wear but you can build it up to slay. Available at Sephora for AU$68.

Sweet golden days of highlight! The gold smoothness of this Jeffree Star masterpiece is INSANE! I love it as a highlight when I’m a bit tan or as an eyeshadow shimmer. You can even apply it using a wet brush which ups the intensity tenfold. Available here for AU$42.95.

For some reason, this is only available in-store at Sephora (for AU$56), but it’s well worth the trip. I use a few drops of this Cover FX Custom Enhancer in my foundation for an all-over celestial glow, it’s absolutely gorgeous and the most intense pigment you’ll find.

All the pale dames out there, rejoice, as Nars Copacabana is for you. Press gently into the high points of your mug for a soft, dewy complexion. Available from Mecca for AU$44, the tube will last you yonks.

Yay an amazing drugstore option! The Nude By Nature Touch of Glow Highlight Stick glides on effortlessly to create a beautiful and subtle glow, perfect for the office. A steal at AU$24.95, buy here.

The lightweight formula of this drool-worthy highlighter features light-reflective pearls to leave skin with a radiant glow. Bobbi Brown never steps a foot wrong and this pinky shade of prettiness is no exception. AU$80, you can nab yourself one at a BB concept store or selected department stores.

Looking at them all together, I think this shade by Jeffree Star suits my skin tone the most, it’s peachy/pinky prettiness is such a lusty shade and I’m glad it comes in such a big pan so it lasts! Available here for AU$42.95.

Be still my beating heart or this highlighter quad by Laura Mercier will destroy it. You can use separately but I like to get all up in its grill and smoosh the products together to create this gorgeous glow! AU$60, available from David Jones.
