What’s Landed On My Desk Lately?

My desk is an absolute disaster zone but I’m lucky enough to get cool new shit plonked on it to try out; so let’s have a look at the weird and wonderful products I’ve discovered recently.

Selfie Skin IPL Hair Removal Handset

As a VERY hairy fair-headed lass, the idea of using an at-home hair-removal device is mighty appealing. And before you suggest; waxing – fk no, or razors – well yes, but not great for hairy, lazy girls. I remember a similar device came out a few years ago but TBH, I didn’t even want to try it as it was so flippin’ $$$, it wasn’t really an option for your average lass with things like, food, to spend their money on. But this bad boy is under $200 so it’s really affordable! Stay tuned on the effectiveness – I’m still in trial period but so far, so good!

Gold Coast Glow Tanning Water

I bloody hate ‘gradual tans’ – I honestly just don’t see the point. Sure, I get wanting a ‘light glow’ over my generally favoured ‘tan AF’ hue ‘; but I don’t see the point in stained sheets and a perpetual over-baked biscuit scent radiating from your pores, results you’ll get from a daily gradual tan application. Well ladies, welcome a tanning water into your life. The name confused me greatly when I unwrapped it but basically, water is a lot easier to work with and results in a natural, streak-free colour. It also doesn’t transfer because it’s colourless and doesn’t have an overly offensive smell so you could actually wear it to work after applying in the morning.

A few weeks ago, on the wildly popular beauty podcast (I just so happen to co-host), I spoke about face shaving and how it’s not as scary as people assume. No, your hair will not grow back thicker and darker. It’s actually just a really effective form of exfoliation and removes all the baby hairs from your skin, which results in far smoother, more airbrushed makeup application.

Mass-market skincare gets personalised with the release of Clinique iD, a custom blend hydration product you assemble YOURSELF. You pick what moisturiser best suits your skincare needs (from the cult Dramatically Difference range) and then insert a concentrated cartridge which provides a boost of active ingredients to target whatever your skin woe may be (pores, texture, fine lines etc). Anyway, it’s super cool!

Hydropeptide Somnifera Root Mist 

We all worry about the light that emits from our screens disrupting our sleep patterns, but did you know it can also cause havoc on our skin!? The clever kids over at Hydropeptide have released a brand spanking new mist that everyone needs on their desk stat. The mist is hydrating, soothing and pollution-blocking, which helps to protect against the ‘blue light’ that comes off all our devices. Given I have 3 screens at work, I’ll be spritzing it on the reg.

Bangn Body Firming Body Lotion

Before we discuss the actual formula, let us all hail the aluminium, recyclable, bright yellow tube this bad boy comes in. It’s so cool!  Enriched with natural, organic, and 100% vegan ingredients; the formula itself is creamy AF with a soft pineapple fragrance many a lass will be partial to. I’m a huge fan of shea butter so any product with a high dose of that in it is a goodie by my standards.

GO Manuka Honey UMF 20+

TBH, until 2 weeks ago, I thought Manuka Honey was just a fancy honey brand. I was wrong. I was sick as a dang…well, sick person, and the brand kindly sent me a jar of this to ease the raging fire pit in my throat. Now, the taste is a bit funky but my GOD this shit is soothing. If you’re also suffering transeasonal sickness (like every other person on the planet), you need to get this down your gob stat.

Avene Cleanance Spot Treatment

Guys, this pimple spot treatment is a pen. A fucking PEN. Which makes it the easiest thing to put on, like… ever. Can even be popped on over makeup given how targeted it is and is completely mess-free.
