When You Have No Idea What To Buy Mum…

01 December 2017

There really isn’t anything we can buy our mum that adequately thanks her for everything she does, but these gift ideas will definitely put a smile on her face.

  1. One of the best books I’ve read this year, Marian Keyes’ The Break is the perfect read for her to devour while YOU do the dishes over the Christmas break. Marian’s warmth and Irish humour weaved into her writing, is like a nice hug to the soul, The Break is an easy holiday read your mum will adore.
  2. A classic watch will always be a winner and if she’s more of a jewellery type of lass, check out the array of arm candy available at Samantha Wills.
  3. As we age, our skin tends to get drier and dehydrates easier, so make sure mum isn’t using some crappy product from Coles full of shitty chemicals that only further dry out skin. Arbonne’s Shea Butter Body Wash & Shea Butter Body Lotion should remain a permanent fixture in your mum’s bathroom as they’re so nourishing and gentle to use, perfect for everyday use! The pump packaging is easy to use so you know she’ll actually use them. HOW ANNOYING IS IT WHEN YOU BUY HER SOMETHING NICE AND SHE DOESN’T USE IT!!!
  4. If mumma bear is in need of a new foundation, get your mitts on the O Cosmedics All About That Base pack. It’s really good value and comes with a cute pack she’ll love. Bomb-ass primer and foundation perfect for all skin types.
  5. If your mum is anything like mine, she uses her serums and face creams pretty haphazardly, not allowing them to do their job correctly.  Gift her the Jurlique Activating Water Essence and teach her how to use it properly, before she applies her other lotions and potions, as it prepares the skin to absorb them properly.
  6. The Foreo Luna is one of the best things I’ve ever gotten for my mum, she ADORES hers! The silicone device pulses on your skin, getting your cleansers to do a MUCH better job than by themselves. She and her skin will be forever grateful!
  7. Using oils is really underrated so get mum a pack of mini Trilogy oils so she can see which one best suits her skin type.
  8. Mum will love the patterns on the beautiful jars the Natio Candle comes in. They look amazing and smell even better.
  9. The OPI Nail Sets are perfect for mums who like doing their own manicures (is it just lazy youngins like me who like paying someone?). The set comes with a primer, colour and gloss – so they shouldn’t chip for at least a week.
  10. If your mum’s hair dryer is looking a touch worse for wear, check out the array at VS Sassoon,  they have a bunch of colours and different price points.
  11. Treat her to a delicious bottle of Disaronno Amaretto (the LE Missoni packing is gorg), then teach her how to make a yummy Amaretto Sour! Pour the amaretto liqueur into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Add a splash of sweet and sour mix, and shake well. Strain or pour into an old-fashioned glass, garnish with a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange.
  12. If your mum is used to using pretty basic skincare, she’ll be amazed at the results good skincare can bring! The Alpha-H Liquid Gold Collection is an epic gift as it’s got the original cult Liquid Gold and 2 extra complimentary goodies she’ll love.
  13. Chic and timeless – these cat-eye black sunnies will be a hit. The shape is both trendy yet a nod to the 80s.
  14. Every mum needs a ‘nice bag’ for when she goes on night outings (rare). Check out our pretty clutch bags for something that might tickle her fancy.
  15. These gold earrings are gorgeous yet light so they won’t pull on her lobes and she’ll actually wear them!
  16. Milani Baked Blush is a product I bang on about a lot because it’s so damn good. So get mum on it! The shades are so creamy and pigmented, she’ll fall in love.
  17. Spoil mum with a luxe perfume, made with only the best quality fragrance oils.  The Helmut Lang  EDP is one of the most beautiful scents I’ve ever had a good whiff of, so I’ll be stealing this from mum for sure. 😉
  18. The Endota Spa Hand & Foot Duo is a great stocking filler for all the mums out there who constantly whine about dry mitts and hooves. Small enough to keep in her handbag or beside draw, she’ll love the spa-like fragrance and nourishing formulas.
