9 Items You need In Your Wardrobe Before Winter

25 May 2018

In the immortal words of Game of Thrones, Winter is Coming and no matter how sad we are to see Summer go there is one shining light at the end of the tunnel – the fashion. Whether you love coats, boots, scarfs or a mix of them all, we’ve got the 9 pieces you need in your wardrobe before winter. It’s time to actually make your clothes trans-seasonal with a couple of must-haves to help you through the dropping temperatures.

BOOTS

Boots are a no-brainer for winter and it’s time to add a pair of knee highs or ankle boots to your collection stat. Knee highs will keep your dresses lasting through the cooler months and keep you super warm. They can easily be dressed up or down plus add a sexy twist to your outfit. Score some ankle boots with a heel for nights where you need to look polished but it’s just too damn cold to be exposing your toes.

SILK SCARF

Think you’ve missed the silk scarf memo now that the warmer days have come and gone? Wrong! A silk scarf is a perfect way to add a little flair to a not so fun winter outfit. Grab a bright and cheeky summer-inspired colour to take yourself back to your beach days. Just tie around a ponytail to make a lame hair day good again.

CHECKED BLAZER

Grey check is this season’s must-have statement and whether you snag yourself a long coat or opt for an oversized blazer, it’s a wearable on-trend piece you need to incorporate into your winter wardrobe. It’s also the perfect outfit transformer for those mornings where you’re running super late and just want to look effortlessly put together. Feeling a little blah in all black? Throw this style over the top to spice it up – checkmate.

CONDUCTOR CAP

Nothing keeps you warm like a hat and you can get away with wearing way less when your head is accessorised. Luckily, baker boy and conductor caps are back! Trade your beanie for a baker to look more Bondi brunch, less ski season. It’s the perfect trans-seasonal accessory for adding an extra element of cosy without sacrificing style.

CROPPED JACKET

Whether your style is black leather or brown suede, this super flattering cut makes dressing for nights out so much easier. Your favourite summer dress is instantly wearable despite the plummeting temperatures. Pair a leather jacket with a t-shirt on weekends and you’re good to go.

FAUX FUR

Real fur need not apply but we love a faux fur for getting cosy. It’s basically an acceptable way to wear a blanket to work and we are 110% on board with that. Go for a cropped style for evenings out and try a long, fluffy number for day to day. Whether it’s leopard print or a soft blush your coat will make a perfect winter statement. Faux fur, real cute.

HEADBAND

In winter we look to our ultimate New York style icon, Blair Waldorf and that means one thing: headbands! Blair’s polished vibe is the perfect style to steal during the winter, but this time around think less schoolgirl structured and a ‘softer’ headband or headscarf. It will add an extra something to your outfit plus keep your hair in check on windy days.

HIGH-NECK KNIT

Layers are your best friend this winter and there’s nothing handier than a high neck knit to legitimately make your clothes work to wear all year long. We love a thinner style versatile enough to wear on its own or layer under dresses, jackets and t-shirts. Wear with belted skinny jeans for an off-duty Hadid look.

STOCKINGS

Think less your grandma’s nude Razza Mattaz and more sexy layering. Fishnets layered under ripped jeans add an element of cool. If stockings aren’t your thing go for knee-high socks or even ankle to sit just above the height of your boots.
